No more financial crisis. Controls are needed for ensure proper and accountable spending to keep budget in balance.
Quality education/facilities across the board:
Every student in Lowell deserves the best possible education regardless of what school they attend.
Goals/vision:
The district and schools should have clear goals with measurable outcomes that can be easily explained and understood.
Family engagement:
Establish strong school site councils at every school in the district.
Communication:
Ensure clear lines of communication between schools and families using the most effective methods possible.
Best practices:
Share best practices, what is working in one school may work for another when it comes to strong family engagement.
Hilary Clark is a Lowell Public Schools parent, local entrepreneur, and human resources professional. As a first time School Committee candidate, Hilary is committed to ensuring equity across all Lowell schools. She has more than 12 years of experience in human resources in higher education, seven of them in public education, and is committed to engaging in a collaborative, creative manner with a focus on transparency and clear communication.
Hilary serves on the Board of Directors of Project LEARN, an organization working to make Lowell Public Schools a national model of excellence in urban education. She has also volunteered with the Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race and Budget Buddies. Hilary completed the Lowell Plan Public Matters program in 2018, a rigorous civic-engagement program where participants learn to contribute to a diverse and mutually supportive community. Most recently, she completed the Launch Your Business Now entrepreneurship program at Middlesex Community College, which launched The Sweet Spot, a boutique that focuses on sustainable fashion.
Hilary is very aware of the importance of relationship building and community partners. She believes collaboration with Lowell’s mission-driven organizations is an integral part of what makes Lowell and the people here stand out. Hilary lives in downtown Lowell with her husband, Dave, and their daughter.
